SPAN 5070 - Spanish Variation and Change Credits: 3 Provides a general overview of issues in language change in the contemporary Spanish-speaking world. General topics include language vs. dialect, social factors affecting language variation/acquisition/maintenance, mechanisms of change, language contact effects, language attitudes, policy and planning, style and register and mixing of languages and bilingualism, among other, as they are seen in the Spanish language.
