MATH 3500 - Abstract Algebra I: Introduction to Abstract Algebra Credits: 3 First course in a two-course sequence. Introduces abstract algebraic structures, including groups, rings, and fields. Beginning with examples, studies isomorphisms, homomorphisms, kernels, and quotients, and explores applications. Also serves as an introduction to proof-based mathematics, a necessary foundation for the second course.
Prerequisite: MATH 2485 and grade C or better in MATH 2250 or concurrent registration in MATH 2250 .
