Certificates can be added independently of any other credentials at UW, and can compliment a student’s existing portfolio.

This program offers remarkable flexibility, allowing students to choose between online or on-campus learning options, making it accessible to a diverse range of learners regardless of their location or schedule constraints.

Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS)

Carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) has experienced growing interest over the past two decades, due to the desires to reduce CO2 (carbon dioxide) emissions, support the longevity of traditional energy resources, and transform CO2 from a waste to a commodity. This certificate covers CCUS inovations, economics, communication, outreach, and policies. CCUS is an important component of our energy systems as the technologies support the continued production and consumption of affordable, abundant, and secure fossil fuels. In addition, CCUS allows for industrial processes that produce CO2 as a byproduct (e.g., cement production, biofuels production, etc.) to reduce their emissions. Ultimately, CCUS prevents CO2 emissions from entering the atmosphere by capturing and permanently storing them safely underground, or by allowing the CO2 to be utilized as a valuable commodity (e.g. enhanced oil recovery, production of low carbon fuels, etc.). The courses in this certificate are taught by a team of leading academics and professionals at the University of Wyoming with decades of experience in this field. This certificate program seeks to alleviate misconceptions of CCUS technologies and educate students about the latest developments in CCUS science, engineering, geology, policy, and economics.

Certificate - 21 credit hours
