An overview of the physical mechanisms underpinning different components of the Earth system. Radiative, dynamic, thermodynamic, chemical, and feedback processes are discussed. An overview of past, present, and future climate variability is provided alongside a description of the construction of the Earth system models that we rely on to provide process understanding of climate variability.

Prerequisite: (MATH 2210 , PHYS 1310 , ATSC 2100 , and PHYS 1320) or equivalent
