NCAA Athletics at UW
As a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Mountain West Conference, the University of Wyoming offers a broad range of intercollegiate athletic programs for both men and women. These programs operate in accordance with NCAA and Mountain West rules and regulations, as well as under the guidance of the University of Wyoming Athletics Council, which includes representatives from the faculty, student body, Alumni Association, and an at-large member appointed by the university president.
Cowboy and Cowgirl athletic activities are overseen by the Director of Athletics, with head coaches for each sport reporting to the Director. The University of Wyoming has been a founding member of the Mountain West Conference since its establishment in 1999, following decades of competition in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC).
Women at the University of Wyoming compete in intercollegiate basketball, volleyball, soccer, cross country, golf, tennis, swimming & diving, and indoor/outdoor track and field. Men’s sports include football, basketball, cross country, wrestling, golf, swimming & diving, and indoor/outdoor track and field.
